Grandfather killed in Thanksgiving Day dispute over loud music

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. — The Broward County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 72-year-old grandpa was shot and died on Thanksgiving Day amid a fight with a neighbor over loud music.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Hureleyon McLean was shot and killed outside a house on Somerset Drive, which is roughly 32 miles north of Miami. Deputies investigating reports of gunfire discovered McLean with a gunshot wound to the head, according to authorities. At the scene, he was declared dead.

The unidentified alleged shooter was apprehended at the site and assisted investigators, stating that he acted in self-defense. According to Broward County officials, the State Attorney’s Office will review the matter and decide whether to press criminal charges.

When the neighbor objected, McLean’s wife, Rose McLean, told the local newspaper about the event and said her husband had been playing music throughout their Thanksgiving party. She told NBC station WTVJ that the man was playing his music and that he was playing it too loudly. So he went down to my spouse. Then there was a shot.

Authorities are still interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence as part of the continuing investigation.
