Lincoln, DE – Delaware State Police have taken 56-year-old Richard Boyd of Greenwood into custody for multiple felony charges following a police chase near Lincoln.
On Sunday at approximately 7:05 p.m., the Kent County Governor’s Task Force was patrolling Calhoun Road near Rust Road. They observed a silver Dodge Durango with its hazard lights activated parked on the roadside. When detectives approached to investigate, the vehicle drove away.
Detectives attempted to stop the Durango, but it did not comply, prompting a pursuit. During the chase, the driver, identified as Richard Boyd, was seen discarding drugs from the vehicle. The chase concluded when the SUV stopped in the parking lot of Shawnee Country Store at 6994 Shawnee Road, where Boyd was apprehended without incident. Detectives recovered approximately 7.5 grams of crack cocaine, 0.69 grams of heroin, and drug paraphernalia.
Boyd was transported to Troop 3 and charged with several offenses. These include two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, tier 1, both felonies.
