WINTERSET, IAA On a rural Iowa farm, a tragic scenario occurred when a bull killed an elderly farmer while the farmer was making sure the animal’s water supply had not frozen. A quiet town is grieving the loss of one of its own members as a result of the tragic tragedy.
On Sunday, January 19, at around 7:31 p.m., Madison County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to an emergency call. According to the allegation, a bull on a farm in Madison County’s 2400 block of Millstream Avenue seriously injured a person.
Authorities Respond to Disturbing Discovery
Deputies and Madison County Ambulance EMTs discovered 76-year-old Mark Hollingsworth unconscious in his property’s cattle feeding area. Although Hollingsworth was given life-saving treatment right away, he was unfortunately declared dead at the site.
According to the investigation, Hollingsworth had gone inside the bull’s pen to see if the water supply had frozen during the extremely cold weather. The bull attacked him and killed him during this regular inspection.
Family Members Discover the Tragedy
Family members made the sobering discovery when they discovered Hollingsworth in the enclosure and dialed 911. Investigators are attempting to ascertain whether the incident was caused in part by a medical emergency. An autopsy is being performed by the state medical examiner’s office in Ankeny to determine whether Hollingsworth was incapacitated prior to the deadly attack by any underlying medical conditions.
Mark Hollingsworth’s family, friends, and the close-knit agricultural community have all been deeply impacted by his passing. He was well-known for his diligence and commitment, and he was a cherished person who personified the virtues of fortitude and compassion.
