Newark, New Jersey. One left lane was closed due to an accident on I-280 westbound at Exit 14E close to King Street in Newark, which caused major delays during rush hour on Monday morning.

The Garden State Parkway northbound experienced a 1.5-mile backup near Exit 89C in Lakewood due to an incident, while another 1.5-mile wait between Exit 148 in Bloomfield and the Essex Toll Plaza was caused by heavy traffic. These were just two of the numerous delays that were recorded on major roads.

Travel times were prolonged at the main crossings into New York City. Both the center and south Lincoln Tunnels had delays, resulting in travel durations of 40 minutes from New Jersey Turnpike Exit 16E to the New York side. Additionally, the George Washington Bridge reported eastbound delays of 30 minutes on both the upper and lower levels.

Additional delays of five to twenty minutes were noted on the Pulaski Skyway northbound from South Kearny to Jersey City, NJ 29 northbound in Trenton, and NJ 495 eastbound in North Bergen.

During peak travel hours, traffic conditions were slow throughout much of the state, causing severe congestion for commuters.
