Texas’s PasadenaWhen an 83-year-old man allegedly opened fire at a high school band competition in Texas, hurting a 26-year-old before heroic parents knocked him to the ground, chaos broke out. These parents’ prompt action prevented what authorities say may have been a fatal mass shooting.
Following the incident at Pasadena Memorial High School during the Texas Color Guard Circuit drum line competition, Dennis Erwin Brandl Jr., 83, is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Around 6 p.m. on Saturday, according to Pasadena Police, Brandl entered through the south side doors of the school and fired a small-caliber handgun a few minutes later. A 26-year-old male was hit by the lone gunshot and sent to the hospital in stable condition.
Parents Take Down the Shooter
A parent on the scene heroically tackled Brandl and wrestled the weapon away as fear spread. He was restrained by others until the cops arrived. These parents were thanked by Pasadena Police with stopping additional bloodshed.
According to authorities, a civilian used the weapon to tackle the man, disarming him with the assistance of others and holding him until help arrived.
In a statement, the Pearland Independent School District commended the quick-thinking parents for their bravery during a crisis.

Shooter s Motivation Remains Disturbing
According to reports, Brandl left his Spring, Texas, home and arrived to the Pasadena school for an unclear purpose.
He reportedly told investigators that he worried for his and his wife’s lives because he thought someone was after him. The reason he targeted the high school function is still being investigated by the police.
Brandl is still facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after being moved to the Harris County Jail. Investigators are still looking into the strange and perhaps fatal incident.
