High Bridge crossing guard killed in pedestrian crash while on duty




New Jersey’s High Bridge.Authorities say a 75-year-old crossing guard was killed Wednesday afternoon after he was hit by a car while he was on duty at the intersection of Larrison Avenue and County Route 513.

Around 12:10 p.m., Robert Bork, a resident of High Bridge and a crossing guard for the High Bridge Police Department, was hit by a southbound car as he was helping pedestrians at the crossroads. The site was attended by emergency personnel from the Annandale Fire Department, South Branch Emergency Services, and the High Bridge Police and Fire Departments.

After being evacuated to Morristown Medical Center, Bork passed away from his wounds.

The crash is being investigated by the Forensic Analysis Collision Team (F.A.C.T.) of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office. Information regarding the driver and the circumstances of the crash has not been made public by the authorities.
