Two individuals were apprehended after a police pursuit involving the West Allis police on the evening of Sunday, Aug. 25. The chase came to a halt as the driver collided with an overpass fence.
Police reported that officers noticed a vehicle driving at a significant speed around 11:58 p.m. and tried to pull it over. The driver quickly escaped, merging onto I-894 southbound at W. Greenfield Avenue.
The vehicle that was fleeing exited I-894 at W. Lincoln Avenue. A driver in a fleeing vehicle tried to head east on Lincoln Avenue, but lost control and crashed through the overpass fence, ultimately landing on the freeway.
FULL FREEWAY CLOSURE UNDERWAY I-894 @ LINCOLN AVE: West Allis PD was involved in a pursuit w/ a vehicle on the freeway, vehicle exited to go EB on Lincoln but crashed into the overpass fence, rolling & landing on the freeway. All traffic is being diverted off 894, WB on Lincoln.

The driver and passenger were apprehended and transported to a medical facility for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the accident.
