NEWARK, N.J. — Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who stole a wallet containing personal belongings from an unlocked vehicle on April 28.
At approximately 7:05 p.m., the victim parked his vehicle near the 300 block of South Orange Avenue, along South 6th Street, while stopping to get food. When he returned, the victim discovered his wallet — containing bank cards, identification cards, and a driver’s license — was missing.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect entering the unlocked vehicle, removing the personal items, and fleeing westbound on South Orange Avenue. The suspect is described as a Black male with a medium build, wearing grey ripped jeans, a blue Champion hoodie, and black sneakers.
The Newark Police Division is continuing to investigate the incident and is seeking information from the public that could lead to the identification of the suspect.
