Marshall, MichiganA 20-year-old Marshall, Minnesota man is facing significant criminal charges in a case that highlights the dangers of social media after he allegedly used internet platforms to target and sexually attack a kid. On December 20, after looking into many incidences involving a 12-year-old girl, the suspect was taken into custody by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigation Details

An ongoing criminal investigation that turned up troubling patterns of predatory behavior is what led to the arrest. Before setting up face-to-face meetings, investigators found the suspect had reached out to the young victim on social media.

The suspect made two different trips to meet the youngster, one to Grove City and one to Paynesville, according to law enforcement officials. The perpetrator is accused of having intercourse with the minor throughout these interactions.

Legal Proceedings

The suspect is now charged with one of the most serious crimes under Minnesota’s penal code: first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was taken to Meeker County Jail after his arrest on Friday and is still being held pending his first appearance in district court.

This case is still being actively investigated by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office. Since the investigation is still ongoing, law enforcement has not yet disclosed any new information.
