Police were called to a collision involving two parked cars on Penn Avenue South shortly before 2:00 p.m., which sparked the chaotic sequence of events. A multi-mile, high-speed pursuit ensued, and the driver was apprehended at the end.

The Incident Begins

The 9700 block of Penn Avenue South in Bloomington is where the incident began. Around 1:55 p.m., police were notified that a motorist had struck two parked cars before escaping the area. Officers arrived right away, and shortly after the collision, they found the suspect’s car. The chase started swiftly but was first stopped close to 98th Street and Interstate 35W. But the suspect was far from done.

The Pursuit Unfolds

New information was sent to Bloomington dispatch shortly after the chase was canceled. According to accounts, the guy was now trying to run other cars off the road when his car was seen turning off Interstate 494 onto Penn Avenue South. The suspect continued to run away from the police as officers made another attempt to halt the car.

The suspect’s car was immediately captured on traffic cameras entering Lakeville from the south on I-35W. The car turned around and started driving back north toward Bloomington after arriving at the location. The pursuit came to an end when authorities were able to use stop sticks and successfully complete a PIT maneuver near 106th Street.

The Arrest and Aftermath

Officers employed chemical chemicals to force the suspect out of the car after it was stopped because he would not get out. At last, the driver, a 32-year-old Andover male, was apprehended. Although no significant injuries were sustained during the pursuit, authorities have not disclosed any additional information regarding the suspect’s motivations.

Charges have been brought against the suspect in connection with the hit-and-run incident, the pursuit, and his reckless driving.
