A community collector is frantically trying to rebuild after a repeat burglar recently stole $70,000 worth of Pok mon cards from a business in Washington.#Lakewood, Washington, #News #Crime
LAKEWOOD, WA The owner of a Washington State collector store claims that a thief has targeted the store twice in less than six months. The neighborhood and business were rocked by the suspect’s getaway with thousands of dollars’ worth of Pok mon cards in this most recent crime.
Second Break-In Leaves Owner Reeling
On Sunday, a burglary occurred at Pacific Northwest Gaming and Collectibles in Lakewood. Robert Cantrell, the store’s owner, posted security footage of the incident on Facebook, stating that he believes the person who broke in back in August 2024 is responsible.
The thief took between $10,000 and $11,000 worth of goods during the most recent break-in, including a crate containing complimentary Pok mon packs and kid-friendly toys.
Additionally, according to Cantrell, his cats escaped during the break-in but returned without incident.
According to Cantrell, he stole somewhat more than $70,000 overall the first time and this time.
Police Investigation Underway
On August 9, 2024, the first break-in happened, and the suspect took a number of collectibles, such as booster boxes and Pok mon cards.
Although the burglaries are being actively investigated by the Lakewood Police Department, no suspect has been named in public. As part of the ongoing inquiry, security footage from both occurrences is being examined.
Store s Mission and Community Impact
In honor of his sister Kassandra Cantrell, who was killed in August 2020, Cantrell founded Pacific Northwest Gaming and Collectibles in February 2021. Since then, local families and collectors have come to trust the store.
Great how this POS keeps stealing from the community and dishonoring Kasey’s memory, Cantrell stated in a Facebook post that accompanied the security video.
Despite the interruption, Cantrell intends to reopen shortly after the store’s broken glass is fixed.
“It has an impact on me in that I will be unable to assist more people,” he said.
Since we promise to pay you more for your belongings than any other business in the state—and if we don’t, we’ll give you $1,000 in cash—you can rely on us to come in here if you need to sell your collection.
Call for Community Support
Additionally, Cantrell asked for community assistance in rebuilding the store’s kid-friendly giveaway box.
We would be grateful to receive any donations for the kids box so that we can restart it, he said. Right now, there is nothing we can give children.
Cantrell is committed to continuing to serve the community and uphold his sister’s legacy, even though the incident has momentarily interrupted operations.
