DUNN COUNTY, WIA A correctional officer from western Wisconsin was killed in a fatal crash on Christmas Eve. On his way to work at the Dunn County Jail early on December 24, Jeff Reynolds, a seasoned employee of the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, was hit by an alleged drunk motorist.

Fatal Collision on Highway 12

Reynolds was driving west on Highway 12 at about 2:45 a.m. when another motorist struck his car. The second driver, 40-year-old Mark Sokolowski of Eau Claire, struck Reynolds’ vehicle after failing to stop at a stop sign, according to the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office.

Three occupants in Sokolowski’s vehicle were also hurt in the collision. Authorities have not revealed their injuries.

Since then, Mark Sokolowski has been charged with homicide by automobile while inebriated. According to authorities, he was intoxicated when the collision occurred.
