TOMS RIVER, N.J.—According to county jail records, Misael Cardos Moro, 34, was arrested in Ocean County on Monday and is facing a number of charges related to an alleged violent altercation with law officers.
According to authorities, Moro was arrested on allegations of violently resisting arrest, obstructing the administration of justice, aggravated assault on a law enforcement official, and giving false information to evade punishment.
In the last few days, Ocean County has seen two instances of an undocumented alien assaulting a police officer.
Moro was committed to the Ocean County jail on December 9 and is still being held without bail with an open ICE immigration detainer, per the booking record.
At this point, it is unclear if Ocean County will honor the federal detainer.
According to New Jersey law, he faces a variety of serious penalties, including third- and fourth-degree felonies.
