Illegal Migrant Fugitive Murder Suspect From Honduras Deported by ICE

HOUSTON — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have deported a Honduran national wanted for murder in his home country, the agency announced.

Fredy Rufino Aguilar-Hernandez, 38, was removed from the United States on Oct. 25 following his apprehension by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Houston. Aguilar-Hernandez was turned over to authorities in Honduras upon his arrival at the Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula.

According to ICE, Aguilar-Hernandez entered the U.S. in September 2018 as a nonimmigrant in Atlanta, Georgia, with authorization to remain until March 2019. However, he did not leave by the required date. In January 2019, ERO Houston was alerted by the agency’s National Criminal Analysis and Targeting Center that Aguilar-Hernandez was wanted in Honduras on murder charges.

ERO Houston officers located Aguilar-Hernandez at a residence in Galveston, Texas, on May 23, 2024, and took him into custody. A federal immigration judge ordered his removal on July 31, and ICE officials coordinated his deportation flight through their Air Operations Unit, departing from the Alexandria Staging Facility in Louisiana.

The operation was carried out with the assistance of ERO Honduras and the Security Alliance for Fugitive Enforcement in Honduras (SAFE). Aguilar-Hernandez’s deportation is part of ICE’s continued efforts to collaborate with international partners to ensure that individuals wanted for serious crimes abroad are apprehended and returned to their countries of origin.
