Lincoln, IllinoisThis week, there will be several opportunities for wintry precipitation in central Illinois as colder air moves in.
Lincoln’s National Weather Service (NWS) says Friday and Saturday will see a modest increase in temperature. But late Sunday, a much colder air mass will move in, increasing the chance of snow and bringing subzero wind chills.
Highs on Friday and Saturday might reach the 30s and 40s, but by Saturday evening, the likelihood of snowfall rises to 80%. By Sunday, evening lows will be close to zero, while highs will struggle to reach the low 30s.
With highs in the teens and 20s and lows close to or below zero, Monday and Tuesday will bring even colder weather. Early in the morning, wind chills might drop to -10 degrees Fahrenheit.
When it snows, drivers should anticipate sloppy roads and decreased visibility. The NWS advises locals to limit their time outside and wear layers in anticipation of severe cold.
