Bend South, After a man allegedly fired rounds into two homes, narrowly missing inhabitants but causing terror in the neighborhood, a violent Christmas Day fight in South Bend, Indiana, took a deadly turn. When police arrived, they saw the damage from the shooting that had broken the holiday silence.

The Incident

The South Bend Police Department responded to reports of gunfire on the 1800 block of Kemble Avenue at around 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday, December 25. Two houses that were occupied at the time were damaged when police got on the site. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries.

After starting an investigation, the department’s violent crimes unit quickly named Franklin Soto-Meza, 28, as a suspect. Soto-Meza acknowledged firing the rounds, citing a domestic dispute as the reason, according to the police.

Charges Filed

Soto-Meza was officially charged with two felony charges of criminal carelessness by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office on Friday. As he awaits additional court processes, he is presently being detained at the St. Joseph County Jail.
