Indiana Weather Alert: Ice and Snow Expected Overnight, Hazardous Roads Until 10 AM Saturday

From 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, a winter weather advisory is still in force for central Indiana. A combination of snow and ice is predicted to make travel dangerous.

The alert impacts Indianapolis, Lafayette, Muncie, Kokomo, and Anderson, according to the Indianapolis National Weather Service. It’s predicted to snow up to one inch and accumulate ice up to a tenth of an inch, making roads, bridges, and overpasses very slippery.

Early morning traffic will be impacted by the forecasted heaviest precipitation, which is expected to occur between 3 and 7 a.m. Particularly on untreated roads, commuters should be cautious and allow additional time for their journey.

When driving, authorities suggest reducing speed and keeping a safe distance. Additionally, pedestrians should exercise caution when crossing slippery driveways, stairs, and walkways. You can contact 511 to find out the most recent road conditions.

By late morning, this winter weather system should leave the area, and by Saturday afternoon, things should be getting better.
