An Indianapolis man has been arrested and is facing charges of attempted murder following an incident where he allegedly shot his girlfriend and their 10-month-old son.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, a distressing incident unfolded at a residence on 21st Street in Indianapolis. Authorities were alerted when a woman sought assistance from her neighbor, stating that she and her 10-month-old son had been injured in a shooting involving her boyfriend.
Based on court records, it was reported that during the incident, the victim was breastfeeding her son.
A woman sustained a gunshot wound to her shoulder. A tragic incident occurred where a child sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Fortunately, both individuals managed to survive their injuries.
According to a neighbor, when asked about the incident, she replied, “My baby daddy shot us.” “She had been shot and the baby had been shot, and she was in desperate need of assistance.”
The neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, shared that the victim had informed the police about ending her relationship with Jerimiah Eldridge through a text message earlier that evening, as stated in the affidavit.
Eldridge later sent the victim threatening text messages, expressing his intention to harm her.

Upon Eldridge’s return to the home on 21st Street, an argument ensued between the two individuals, resulting in the alleged shooting of both victims by the 21-year-old suspect, according to the police.
A video shared with authorities also captured the altercation, revealing Eldrige brandishing a firearm and gesturing with it in the presence of multiple children. The suspect was overheard uttering the phrase “Do you think this is a game?”
Following the shooting incident, the suspect reached out to the victim once more, expressing remorse and affection by saying, “Baby, I love you. I’m deeply sorry…” The authorities are actively pursuing me, as I am fully aware of the consequences of my actions, which involved attempting to cause harm to another individual.
Eldridge turned himself into the authorities later in the morning. The police were able to recover the firearm that was used in the incident.
“It’s a situation that has been ongoing for years. They’ve been told their relationship is toxic and they need not be together,” said Tiana Eldridge, the suspect’s mother, and grandmother of the wounded 10-month-old.
According to her, there has been an ongoing dispute between her son and the child’s mother for years.

Aside from the injured 10-month-old, two other young children residing in the residence were taken into the custody of DCS.
The suspect has been apprehended for alleged attempted murder, although the decision to press formal charges lies with the prosecutor’s office.
