Cumberland, Maryland.Following the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s determination that 28-year-old Robert Warren’s death was a homicide, Maryland State Police are looking into the murder of a prisoner at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Cumberland.
When emergency medical professionals discovered Warren unconscious in his cell on November 25, they pronounced him dead. The maximum-security facility was where he was spending a sentence in a state prison.
Although no charges have been brought as of Wednesday, authorities have named another prisoner as the suspect in Warren’s killing. Until charges are filed, the suspect’s name is being kept confidential.
With support from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit and State Police crime scene technicians, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is spearheading the investigation. The Allegany County State’s Attorney’s Office will analyze the findings and consider filing charges.
