Des Moines, Iowa—There is a slight possibility of localized thunderstorms in the northeast and eastern regions of the state as showers move across the state this afternoon and into the evening. Strong, short-lived wind gusts of up to 45 mph can occur during certain storms.
Dispersed showers will continue until around midnight, mostly across northeastern and eastern Iowa, according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines. The next day will bring cooler temperatures, with lows of 30 to 34 degrees. Stronger gusts may be possible close to heavier showers, and winds from the northwest will shift at 10 to 15 mph.
For the remainder of the week, a warm weather trend is anticipated. Although there is another chance of rain on Tuesday night and into early Wednesday, the weather will be generally sunny and moderate throughout the week, with highs in the mid-40s to low 60s. By the weekend, though, it should be cooler and breezier.
Tonight, residents should be ready for any changes in the weather and be on the lookout for powerful gusts of wind. When driving in the evening, drivers should also be aware of the wet roads and decreased visibility.
