Jackson Restaurants Face Failing Health Grades, Two Pass Re-Inspections in Mississippi

In September, three eateries in the Jackson region were marked with a failing health inspection grade, as reported by the Mississippi State Department of Health.

As of October 2, two out of the three restaurants have undergone follow-up inspections and successfully addressed the issues that led to their poor ratings.

Here is a list of the dining establishments and food service locations in District V, encompassing Hinds, Rankin, and Madison counties, that have been assigned a disappointing grade of “C.”

One Stop Concession:  On September 25, an inspection of One Stop Concession in Jackson, situated at 3295 Forest Hill Rd., resulted in a disappointing C rating. Previously, the site underwent an inspection in 2018, during which One Stop Concession achieved an A rating. The latest inspection report reveals that One Stop Concession fell short in several critical areas, including the absence of a suitable hand-washing station, insufficiently sanitized food contact surfaces, and the lack of a certified manager on site. As of October 2, there has been no follow-up inspection for One Stop Concession.

Piggly Wiggly:  On September 19, a routine inspection at the Piggly Wiggly located at 225 Meadowbrook Rd. in Jackson resulted in a C rating, attributed to inadequate temperatures for cold food storage and unsatisfactory toilet facilities. This site was previously assigned a C rating back in January 2023. On September 30, Piggly Wiggly completed the follow-up inspection, achieving a B rating.

The Mighty Crab:  The Mighty Crab located at 6380 Ridgewood Court Drive in Jackson was assigned a C rating following a permit inspection, primarily due to insufficient hand-washing facilities. On September 25, the establishment completed a follow-up inspection and earned a B rating. The Mighty Crab had never encountered a setback like this before.
