Jackson’s new Wawa opens with giveaways, coffee and heroes hoagie competition

JACKSON, NJ — Wawa officially opened its newest location in Jackson on Thursday morning, welcoming customers with free coffee, giveaways, and a hoagie-building competition between local police and fire departments.

The grand opening event began at 7:45 a.m. at 584 Cedar Swamp Rd., with Wawa General Manager Daniel McArthur leading the countdown before the store opened its doors at 8:00 a.m. The first 100 customers received free “Popping Bubbles & Positivity” t-shirts, while all customers enjoyed free any size hot coffee throughout the day.

At 8:30 a.m., the ceremony continued with remarks from Wawa executives and local officials. Jason Read, Wawa Director of Store Operations, and Jamie Malek, Wawa Area Manager, joined McArthur to celebrate the new store’s role in the community.


New flavors and community engagement on display

The event also featured Wawa’s “Craving Tamer” Parade, introducing its latest “Cravings Made Easy” campaign. Customers were offered samples of Wawa’s new Watermelon and Pineapple specialty beverages, along with Sour Cherry Flavored Popping Bubbles. The campaign includes promotional offers such as $1 hot coffee, $2 iced coffee, and $1 teas and fruit drinks for Rewards Members.

As part of Wawa’s community tradition, the store hosted its signature “Hoagies for Heroes” competition, where members of the local police and fire departments faced off in a friendly hoagie-building contest. The event concluded with a ribbon cutting featuring Wally Goose, Wawa’s mascot, oversized scissors, and confetti. The Jackson fire department defeated the Jackson Police Department.

Wawa’s new location aims to provide convenience, new jobs, and community support while expanding its offerings with a range of new specialty beverages, energy drinks, smoothies, and flavored bubbles.
