Job Cuts Loom as Indiana Auto Parts Factory Announces Closure in Richmond; Many Impacted

A company in the heavy-duty vehicle industry has informed the state of Indiana about its decision to permanently close its facility in Richmond.

TBK Col. Ltd. specializes in manufacturing brakes and water pumps for engine cooling systems used in heavy-duty vehicles such as trucks and buses. The closure of the Japanese company was not immediately announced, leaving the reason undisclosed.

TBK America Inc. has informed the Indiana Department of Workforce Development about upcoming layoffs. The first round of job cuts is scheduled for Sept. 30, affecting 70 individuals in Region 6.

The second round of layoffs is scheduled for Nov. 30, with a total of nine employees being affected, as stated in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification.

A total of 86 workers will be impacted by the closure, according to the notice.

TBK has recently announced the closure of its Richmond factory, which unfortunately means that 86 workers will be laid off, according to the WARN notice sent to the state.

Various positions, including assemblers, bookkeepers, human resources officers, managers, clerks, engineers, maintenance workers, payroll staff, and others, have been affected by these layoffs. The company also announced that the following workers will be affected:

  • Assemblers and Fabricators, All Other
  • Bookkeeping, Accounting, and Auditing Clerks
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technicians
  • First-line supervisors of Helpers, Laborers, and Material Movers, Hand
  • Human Resources Managers
  • Industrial Production Managers
  • Maintenance Workers, Machinery
  • Payroll and Timekeeping Clerks
  • Sales Managers
  • Secretaries and Administrative Assistants
