Kentucky mother sentenced to life for killing sons, blames video games and internet manipulation

Kentucky’s Shepherdsville. On Friday, a Kentucky woman who acknowledged shooting her two young sons to death was given two consecutive life sentences for the killings, which she said were motivated by YouTube, video games, and online manipulation.

In October, Tiffanie Ann Katherine Lucas, 33, entered a guilty plea to two counts of first-degree murder related to the deaths of her children, Jayden Howard, 9, and Maurice Peanut Baker Jr., 6. On November 8, 2023, the boys were discovered in the family’s Shepherdsville, Kentucky, house, some 20 miles south of Louisville, with gunshot wounds to the head, according to the police.

After Lucas arrived at a neighbor’s house, slumped in the driveway, and started yelling that her children were dying, police were called to the scene. Officers later questioned Lucas, who stated that outside factors, including as social media and video games, had impacted her children’s behavior and influenced her own actions, according to body camera footage from the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office.

I adore my kids. During her police interview, Lucas stated, “I love my boys so much.” Although I wouldn’t have harmed children, I felt that YouTube and video games [ ] messed with their heads so much that they could do anything they wanted or even manipulate their parents. Additionally, she claimed that she had been tricked into doing what she did by means of Facebook, the internet, or Wi-Fi.

During her interrogation, Lucas finally acknowledged firing four shots in 30 seconds after first claiming insanity, but she said the incident was an accident. Prosecutors and authorities challenged that account, citing the intentionality of the murders as well as her inconsistent comments to police, such as demanding that a deputy in the questioning room cease moving his fingers.

The Shepherdsville community has been shocked by this case, which comes to an end with Lucas’ punishment. According to authorities, Lucas’ allegations of outside meddling were unsupported by any evidence.

There are still unsolved mysteries regarding the murders of two young boys after a mother makes a terrifying confession.
