The La Crosse National Weather Service predicts that snow will likely fall in the early morning hours, with the most significant accumulation occurring between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Even while accumulations are only forecast to be minor—less than half an inch—driving might become dangerous due to decreased visibility, especially on grassy or hilly surfaces. On Thursday, temperatures are predicted to be close to freezing, peaking at 42 degrees Fahrenheit and falling to 35 degrees.
The afternoon will see an increase in wind speed, with persistent northwesterly gusts. Particularly when driving close to bridges and wide areas of road, drivers should use caution. By Thursday evening, conditions could marginally improve with cloudy sky and waning winds.
The forecast for Friday and Saturday is primarily cloudy, with high temperatures between 38 and 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Winds from the northwest will continue to be consistent but less strong. There will be a small reprieve on Sunday, with partly sunny skies and highs of about 45 degrees Fahrenheit.
