California’s CalFresh food assistance program, which is part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), will stop distributing payments on March 10, 2025.
The money, which is distributed via an EBT card, enables the purchase of wholesome foods at approved establishments, such as farmers markets and, in certain situations, eateries for the elderly, the homeless, and those with disabilities.
CalFresh is handled at the county level by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). The funds are loaded onto the EBT card once a month and can be used to buy food, seeds, and edible plants, but not non-food items.
Beneficiaries of SSI/SSP who fulfill the conditions can enroll in the program as of 2019. The card prioritizes user security and privacy while functioning as a debit card.
The March 2025 payment schedule is nearly finished
Depending on the case number’s final digit, benefits are delivered between the first and tenth of the month. Funds, for instance, are paid to individuals with a 1 on March 1 and to those with a 0 on March 10. Since this day falls on a Monday in 2025, there won’t be any delays in the process.
All groups are now covered because it is evident that the CalFresh payments for this month expire today. All we need to do now is wait until April 1st, when the benefits will be disbursed once more. Payments differ depending on household members and net income.

CalFresh eligibility requirements were expanded in 2025
In addition to having to live in California, applicants must have a gross income that is below 130% of the federal poverty line (FPL). This comes to $19,578 for one person and $26,442 for two by 2025.
The state does, however, permit more flexible eligibility: seniors and individuals with disabilities can qualify up to 165% of the FPL without having to meet the net income criteria, and Medi-Cal households can qualify up to 200% of the FPL.
