Lawsuit Filed Against Boone County Businessman for Alleged Fraud in West Virginia

A lawsuit has been initiated by West Virginia against a Boone County individual following multiple complaints regarding his business’s failure to deliver paid materials, according to the prosecutor.

A legal action has been initiated following 23 official grievances lodged against Douglas Baisden, who is accused of selling shed and barn construction kits under the names Build a Barn, LLC, and Barnyard Building Supplies LLC. Allegations suggest that he failed to deliver the materials after collecting payments, as reported by the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office.

“This legal action serves as a clear message to those who believe they can deceive consumers without facing consequences,” stated Attorney General Patrick Morrisey. “The message is clear: adherence to the law is essential for conducting business in West Virginia, and integrity in your work is non-negotiable.”

The recent announcement highlighted that multiple customers reported seeking refunds, yet Baisden allegedly provided excuses or ceased communication with them.

The legal action seeks monetary compensation for qualifying consumers, along with civil fines and legal costs. A permanent ban is also sought against Baisden from receiving payments for future shipments, referencing the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act.
