Letter: Husband and Wife Couple Running for Office in Jackson is Just “Weird”

I’m all for the right to run for office, but when it comes to a husband and wife running for office together in a small town like Jackson Township, that’s just weird. Jackson Township isn’t very diverse, but we do no need diversity on the council and having Elenor Hannum, a sometimes rude and often crude woman running for office with her husband is not the diversity and equal representation our town needs.

Hannum has been on a crusade against the people of Jackson. She filed a $500,000 tort claim against the township. The oath of office for elected officials is to the people, not “Until death do us part” and that would be a major conflict of interest. It is simply giving one person with a gigantic axe to grind two votes.

That’s why I am supporting Hope Drew and the Column L Republicans this year. That would give us the most diverse solution. We don’t need people who have sued the police, Amanda Trombetta, and are suing the township, the Hannums serving on our board.

It is time to FUND our police and keep Jackson safe, God forbid Kamala Harris is our next president, we need strong and united local leadership who will protect our residents, not cop-hating people who want to take money from our town’s fine police department.

– Kim, a Jackson resident.
