Los Angeles Flood Watch: Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding Risk Thursday Afternoon

California’s Los Angeles Heavy rain is predicted to raise the risk of flash floods and debris flows, especially in burn scar areas, prompting the issuance of a Flash Flood Watch for Ventura and Los Angeles counties.

The watch will remain in force from Thursday afternoon until late Thursday evening, according to the Los Angeles National Weather Service. The Eaton, Palisades/Franklin, and Bridge burn scars are the areas most at risk because of the potential for deadly floods and landslides caused by extreme rainfall.

It is recommended that residents in flood-prone areas keep informed about emergency notifications and prepare for potential evacuations. Authorities advise protecting outdoor property before the storm and avoiding travel across flood zones.

Significant rainfall is anticipated during the storm, with low-lying and urban areas more vulnerable to flash floods due to localized, intense downpours. Authorities caution that dangerous road conditions may occur even outside the burn scars, and that quick water rescues may be required.
