Louisiana Flood Watch: Heavy Rain Threatens Shreveport and Monroe Through Wednesday

Shreveport, Louisiana Heavy rain is expected to generate excessive runoff and flooding from Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon, prompting the issuance of a flood watch for portions of Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas.

The Shreveport National Weather Service predicts that the impacted areas, which include Shreveport, Monroe, Natchitoches, El Dorado, and Marshall, would have widespread rainfall of 2 to 4 inches. Rivers and creeks may overflow, and flash floods may occur in urban areas and places with inadequate drainage.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected to get worse on Tuesday, officials warn, and they will last through Tuesday night and into Wednesday. In the event that conditions worsen, residents in flood-prone areas should stay vigilant and ready for any evacuations.

Officials advise keeping an eye on weather reports and making emergency plans. Avoid driving on flooded roads and, if required, seek higher ground if a flood warning is issued.
