Louisiana Weather Alert – Scattered Storms and High Heat Continue Through the Weekend

Southwest Louisiana is now experiencing a more unsettled weather pattern, bringing increased chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms each day as the work week comes to a close.

Morning Showers and Storms Kick Off the Day

As residents step out this morning, light rain and isolated storms are already developing in some areas. Commuters are advised to carry umbrellas and rain jackets as morning showers may linger through mid-morning.

Brief Sun, Then Rising Heat

As the day progresses, the region is expected to see a mix of sun and clouds, allowing temperatures to climb into the mid-90s by afternoon. With the added humidity, heat index values could approach 108 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for all of Southwest Louisiana, in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and limit time outdoors during peak heat hours.

Afternoon Storms Likely Again

More showers and storms are possible this afternoon, especially in areas that receive strong daytime heating. However, the overall coverage of storms will depend on cloud development throughout the day.

Heat and Storm Cycle to Repeat Friday

Friday will follow a similar pattern, with highs once again reaching the mid-90s and scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms developing due to daytime heating.

Increased Rain Chances Over the Weekend

Rain coverage is expected to increase slightly on Saturday as more cloud cover moves in. Although a complete washout is not expected, there will be periods when outdoor activities may need to pause due to passing storms. Sunday and early next week will continue with scattered afternoon storms, typical of the region’s summertime weather pattern.

Drier and Hotter by Midweek

Looking ahead to the middle of next week, drier air is expected to arrive, reducing rain chances but leading to warmer overall temperatures across the region.

Tropics Remain Quiet

For now, there are no signs of tropical development over the next seven days, offering a brief but welcome break in an otherwise active season.
