Second in Colorful Clearwater’s five-part series on murals is the East Shore Resort. Located on East Shore Drive on Clearwater Beach, this colorful oasis deserves its own post because of the vast array of murals on display.
Owner Billy Day is cheerful, fun and the perfect host.
Jenny Pearl painted the above beach scene, downspouts, water spigot and two doors.
The majority of the murals were painted by Canadian artist Don Scali. Owner Bill Day plans to have Mr. Scali paint more murals soon. “He also did the big anchor on the front of the house that says ‘Clearwater Marine District.’ He’s going to paint all four of the shed doors with different scenes. Scali also painted all the murals on the bar counters, table tops and chairs in all of Frenchy’s five different locations. He is one of the best.”
The inviting pool looks out at a mural of a beach with Teddy – a golden retriever who has sadly since passed away – laying on the white sand.
Billy and his wife Terry are immortalized on the lower level wall…
as is their current dog Holly.
A signboard changes with the holidays.
The resort offers modern rooms with a view of the Intercoastal waterway…
where dolphins and manatees are frequently spotted, such as this mother with her baby,

and gorgeous sunrises paint colorful pictures on the sky.

The second floor of the resort has even more murals,
as does an apartment suite which points the way to the resort office across the street.
Even if you’re a local, you’ll enjoy the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of the East Shore Resort.
