by Hialeah, Florida — A 49-year-old man is facing serious charges after police say he kidnapped his girlfriend following a domestic dispute in Hialeah. Authorities credit a vigilant community member for reporting suspicious activity that led to the arrest.
911 call sparks police response
According to the Hialeah Police Department, officers were dispatched around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday to the area of West 27th Avenue and 52nd Street after a concerned citizen called 911 to report what appeared to be a possible abduction.
Detectives later determined that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute between Jose Manuel Gonzalez, 49, and his girlfriend.
Police say woman was forced into vehicle
Investigators said the victim had been visiting others when Gonzalez arrived at the location and forcibly placed her into his vehicle. As detectives worked to locate the woman and piece together what happened, officers confirmed the situation escalated from a personal conflict into an alleged kidnapping.
The woman was later found uninjured, police said.
Suspect taken into custody, charged
Gonzalez was arrested and charged with kidnapping and domestic battery, according to authorities. During his court appearance on Sunday, he was denied bond, police confirmed.
