Eagle Pass, TexasAccording to federal investigators, a Texas man attempted to smuggle hundreds of firearms and ammunition out of the country, but was stopped at the U.S.-Mexico border. Concerns regarding possible violence and illegal arms trafficking were raised by the haul, which contained rifles, shotguns, and accessories.

Massive Weapons Seizure at Eagle Pass

On January 19, 39-year-old Victor Hugo Diego-Avellaneda was taken into custody at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry. According to court records, he allegedly said he had no cash, firearms, or ammo with him before attempting to enter Mexico.

But according to reports, two sizable duffel bags with deadly contraband were discovered during a follow-up check by Customs and Border Protection officials. Forty rifles, six shotguns, a pistol, eighty magazines, and two rifle scopes were discovered inside.

Alleged Payment Per Weapon

Diego-Avellaneda acknowledged receiving roughly $100 for each pistol he brought across the border, according to authorities. Eleven of the firearms were his personal belongings, according to investigators.

A significant federal allegation of smuggling products out of the United States is facing Diego-Avellaneda. He might receive a term of up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.
