Greensburg, South West, Pa. A 45-year-old man is accused of entering into an apartment in Southwest Greensburg, attacking a man, and holding him at knifepoint. He is now facing several counts. Tuesday night, Shawn Ballantyne was taken into custody after the altercation in the 400 block of Oakland Avenue.
Ballantyne was standing on the property’s porch when Southwest Greensburg Police arrived at the scene of a disturbance. The victim and his son had fled to a neighbor’s house across the street. The victim claims that Ballantyne broke in while he was dozing off on his couch, hit him several times, and threatened to kill him while holding a knife to his neck.
The victim pushed Ballantyne away and was able to flee with his son. Later on, the police discovered that Ballantyne had no legitimate title to the land. Despite many warnings to vacate, Ballantyne had continued to trespass in the unoccupied upper unit, according to the landlord.
Ballantyne was accused of illegal trespassing, harassment, simple assault, aggravated assault, burglary, and public intoxication. He was arrested and released on $10,000 bond.
