Man Convicted of Sexual Assault of a Minor in Butler County

HARRISBURG, PA A Butler County man has been found guilty of sexually abusing a preteen kid, according to Attorney General Michelle Henry. The conviction comes after Shaun Sheffer, 45, was charged in 2023 after several Jehovah’s Witnesses were recommended to be convicted by a Statewide Investigating Grand Jury.

Sheffer was found guilty last week of three counts of indecent assault and three counts of rape, including raping a person with a mental handicap. In February, he will be sentenced.

Because of their age and mental illness, Attorney General Henry emphasized the victim’s vulnerability. Henry thanked the victim, the trial jurors, and the grand jurors for their contributions to the process.

The 49th Investigating Grand Jury’s findings included the accusations, which focused on Butler County abuse that took place between 1995 and 2000. According to testimony, the victim, who was between the ages of seven and twelve at the time of the assaults, was close to Sheffer. Senior Deputy Attorney General Alicia Werner was in charge of the case.
