Man Dies After Jumping from Medical Transport SUV on Highway 99, Struck by Passing Car

A tragic incident occurred on Highway 99 near Chowchilla on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of a 35-year-old man’s life. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man jumped out of a medical transport SUV.

According to the CHP, officers were alerted to an incident at the intersection of Highway 99 and Highway 233. It was reported that an individual had exited a transport SUV and was subsequently struck by a passing motorist from Sacramento at approximately 9:15 p.m.

An investigation by CHP reveals that a driver employed by First Step Recovery in Lemoore was operating a black 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, heading north on Highway 99, just south of Highway 233.

A transport driver was in the process of transporting a 35-year-old man to the Bay Area. However, during the journey, the man unexpectedly opened the right rear door of the Chevrolet and jumped out of the moving vehicle. The man settled in the second lane.

According to the CHP, a driver from Sacramento was involved in an accident where they unintentionally hit a man lying in the roadway while driving a Camry.

Tragically, the man sustained severe injuries and passed away at the scene.
