Man dies after medical emergency in Riverside Park, NYPD investigating

New York City’s Manhattan.The NYPD’s Force inquiry Division opened an inquiry after a 54-year-old man in Riverside Park passed away Thursday night following a medical emergency.

The individual was reportedly having trouble breathing when police arrived at West 137th Street and Riverside Drive in the 30th Precinct at approximately 10:05 p.m.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside by Emergency Medical Services once they got on the scene. According to officials, hospital staff later declared him deceased.

The NYPD affirmed that the incident’s circumstances are being examined by its Force Investigation Division. No other information was given regarding the cause of the medical emergency or whether police were contacted before the 911 call.

According to a statement from the agency, the deceased’s name is still pending appropriate family notification.
