Man injured in D.C. shooting as police hunt for getaway car

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Southeast D.C. neighborhood was rattled by gunfire Sunday afternoon, leaving one man injured and police searching for a vehicle captured on surveillance footage near the scene.

The incident unfolded around 3:40 p.m. on October 27, when officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Savannah Street SE following reports of a shooting. On arrival, they found an adult male who had been shot but was conscious and breathing. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

Images of a car linked to the shooting were recorded by a nearby security camera, though authorities have not disclosed details about the vehicle’s make or model. The footage, now released to the public, is part of the department’s effort to track down those involved in the incident.

Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward, though they caution against direct action. “Anyone with knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411,” officials said in a statement.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
