Man shot and killed in East New York; investigation underway

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A 29-year-old man was fatally shot on Saturday evening in East New York, according to police, marking the latest in a series of violent incidents in the neighborhood.

Officers from the NYPD’s 75th Precinct responded to a 911 call at approximately 5:51 p.m. on November 2, reporting a shooting at 2060 Pitkin Avenue. When police arrived at the scene, they found Aarmani Dawkins, 29, with gunshot wounds to his neck and abdomen.

Emergency Medical Services transported Dawkins to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition before being pronounced dead. Police have not yet disclosed any information on a potential suspect, and no arrests have been made.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities have not indicated if they believe it was a targeted attack or a random act of violence. Investigators are currently canvassing the area and reviewing surveillance footage as they work to gather more information.

This shooting is part of an ongoing trend of gun violence in Brooklyn’s 75th Precinct, which covers much of East New York. The NYPD has not yet issued a public appeal for information in connection with Dawkins’ death but urges anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact authorities as the investigation continues.
