WASHINGTON, D.C.
— A man was killed and two others were wounded in a triple shooting Monday afternoon in Southeast D.C., prompting a homicide investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.
The violence unfolded just before 2 p.m. in the 3400 block of 13th Place SE, where officers found two men inside an apartment suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims, 30-year-old James Robinson of Southeast D.C., was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency crews were unable to revive him.
The second man was rushed to a nearby hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
A third victim, also an adult male, was discovered a short distance away in the 1300 block of Savannah Street SE. He was conscious and breathing when emergency responders arrived and was transported for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not released information about a suspect, potential motive, or whether the shootings are believed to be connected to any ongoing disputes.
Investigation continues into Southeast D.C. gun violence
Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and whether the victims were targeted. It is not yet clear how the third victim came to be found a block away from the apartment where the fatal shooting occurred.
Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
This latest act of gun violence adds to a string of shootings in the area as police continue efforts to reduce violent crime in Southeast neighborhoods.
