The city of Philadelphia After an earlier altercation at a neighboring store, a man was shot late Tuesday night in West Philadelphia and taken to the hospital, according to police.
At around 11:54 p.m., officers from the 18th District responded to a report of a male shot and armed individual hiding in the bushes near Sansom and 63rd Streets. Officers discovered a male adult with a gunshot wound to the back when they got there.
Police said the victim’s condition was categorized as serious but stable after being taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
Other cops noticed a man sitting on a neighboring step wearing all black shortly after the incident. According to the police, the man got up, dropped what looked like a gun, picked it up, and left. A Taser was used to restrain the male and take him into custody after he disregarded the officers’ orders to stop and threw an object into some adjacent bushes.
He was sent to Presbyterian Hospital so that minor wounds could be treated.
Shooting follows earlier dispute at corner store
According to investigators, the victim disarmed the suspect and handed the firearm to a third party during an earlier contact between the victim and the suspect at a nearby corner store. The victim went back to his adjacent apartment complex to finish his work shift after the event.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly shot the victim in the back as he left the premises at the end of his duty.
While the investigation is ongoing, the suspect is not yet charged.
