Man taken into custody after machete attack on SEPTA bus


PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A 45-year-old man was taken into custody early Thursday morning after an altercation involving a machete on a SEPTA bus, police said. The incident occurred at approximately 2:23 a.m. on the 400 block of N. Broad Street, where officers responded after being alerted by a passerby.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found two men covered in blood. One of the men, a 61-year-old, was holding a meat cleaver but complied when ordered to drop the weapon. Officers later learned that the 61-year-old man was the victim, who had wrestled the cleaver away from his attacker. The victim was taken to Jefferson Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
