Using a notebook and pen that had been stolen, a guy from Utah was apprehended after passing a note to a bank teller, in which he claimed to have a bomb and sought twenty thousand dollars.
The West Valley City Police Department responded to a complaint of a robbery that occurred at a bank on March 19, according to the court documents that were obtained via the process.
Christopher Thomas Kirby, 37, was identified as the suspect, who was located and apprehended by the police upon their arrival at the site. Kirby is suspected of attempting to rob the bank by giving a note to the teller.
Kirby allegedly entered the bank and handed a sticky note to the teller that stated, “This is a robbery.” The detectives say that that is what happened. One of the bombs that I have on me is going to go off. The court filings state that “I need twenty thousand dollars in a bag.”
According to the surveillance footage, Kirby was also seen entering the bank and passing the note that contained the threat.
The report stated that “Bank employees interviewed on the scene were traumatized by (Kirby’s) actions,” which was an additional statement made by the authorities.
A report from the outlet stated that Kirby stated that he robbed the bank because he needed money to purchase food and clothing. This statement was made during an interview with the police.
A Dollar General store that was located adjacent to the bank was the location where Kirby admitted to stealing the pen and sticky note that were used in the robbery.

According to KUTV, he also told the authorities that he chose the bank at random and that he was not intentionally targeting any one person or bank.
The police reported that Kirby had four past encounters with law enforcement, all of which were related to mental health calls, trespassing, and retail theft. They also observed that Kirby had only been in Utah for a short period of time, estimating that he had only been there for ten days.
It has been reported by authorities that Kirby is being jailed without bail and is being charged with aggravated robbery.
