Manchester police address recent drone sightings, urge public not to call 911 to report sightings

Manchester, New Jersey. The Manchester Police Department is looking into a number of drone sightings that have been reported in the area. Residents are being asked not to call 911 if they have non-emergency concerns about the devices.

Police reiterated in a statement on Friday that 911 should only be called in cases when there are imminent risks to life, property, or well-being, even though they are actively investigating the reports. The department stated, “We’re doing our own research,” adding that state and federal entities are also participating.

The New Jersey State Police and the FBI’s Newark office are working together on the investigation and are asking the public for help in reporting any pertinent information. Locals can send information online at tips.fbi.gov, call the FBI directly at 1-800-CALL-FBI, or upload videos of the sightings on the same website.

The public was also advised by authorities not to interact with any downed drones. People are encouraged to avoid the area and alert local law police instead.

While investigating the unexplained aerial activity, police reaffirmed their dedication to public safety.

Although drones are raising concerns in Manchester, authorities advise citizens to exercise caution and report any information to the state police or FBI.
