Manchester Township offers safe exchange zone for online purchases, custodial exchanges

Manchester, New Jersey. Manchester Township Police are reminding locals that the Municipal Complex has a designated Safe Exchange Zone that is intended to protect people making online purchases or exchanging custody of children. In response to safety concerns over online marketplaces and visitation agreements, the protected area was established.

Located on Colonial Drive on the northeast side of the Municipal Complex, in the main visitor parking area, is the Safe Exchange Zone. According to authorities, it has two well-marked parking spots that are well-lit and monitored by CCTV around-the-clock.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Manchester Police stated that this site offers a secure setting for families with visiting rights to exchange custody as well as for buyers and sellers from Facebook Marketplace and classified advertisements to meet.

The zone provides a neutral setting for people who might be uncomfortable meeting strangers in private settings for transactions or exchanges, the police stressed. The facility can be used without prior permission or police presence, however there is an extra degree of protection because of its close proximity to town hall.

In addition to using the area for safety, residents are urged to notify law authorities of any suspicious activity or problems.

The township’s dedication to promoting safer community interactions is demonstrated via the Safe Exchange Zone.
