As a result of the growing surge in the spread of the Covid-19 Omicron virus, the NAACP National Office has issued a directive that until further notice, there should be no in person events from all NAACP units and branches.
Due to this, the MLK Jr. Day event planned for Monday, January 17, 2022, at 9 a.m. at the North Greenwood Recreation Center has been cancelled. The NAACP Clearwater Upper Pinellas County Branch apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and hope for the health, safety, and welfare of their fellow citizens.
The Clearwater Urban Leadership Coalition, however, will be moving forward with their Sunday Community Day at the Park on Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Cherry Harris Park, 1141 Becket St, Clearwater, as it is an outdoor event.
There will be free food and outdoor activity. CULC invites you to come out and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream!
There will be free food and outdoor activity. CULC invites you to come out and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream!
“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
That dream is more important than ever today as Clearwater looks toward a future of collaboration and unity.
