MANASSAS, Virginia.According to authorities, a 22-year-old Maryland male has been taken into custody and accused with sexually assaulting and soliciting a youngster in Manassas.
After reporting the incident to a school counselor, who subsequently notified authorities, the victim—who was under the age of eighteen at the time of the offenses—started the inquiry. Investigators found that the accused, Elias Samuel Vargas Canaviri, used Snapchat to send the victim sexually explicit messages between October 20 and October 21.
According to the police, Vargas Canaviri set up a meeting with the victim during this period and then sexually assaulted the minor before they split up.
Vargas Canaviri, of 3005 Hardy Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland, was taken into custody on November 20 and charged with carnal knowledge, indecent liberties, and using a communications system to enable certain child-related acts.
According to authorities, he is being held without bond and his court date has not yet been set.
