Shortly after 8 p.m., a call alerted authorities to the situation, prompting troopers from the Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack to locate the vehicle as it stopped on the westbound span of the bridge. Acting swiftly, Trooper First Class Strong, Trooper First Class Passwaters, and Trooper First Class Maranto exited their patrol cars to intervene.
