Michigan Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in Grand Rapids Through Tuesday



Michigan – A powerful weather system is set to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and possible thunderstorms to Grand Rapids beginning tonight and continuing through Tuesday. Residents in the area should prepare for wet conditions on roads, with potential for ponding and reduced visibility. Southeast winds may gust up to 30 mph, which could impact travel on major routes including I-196 and US-131.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, rain will intensify tonight with a 90% chance of showers, rising temperatures in the high 50s, and gusty southeast winds reaching 25 mph. Monday brings an even higher chance of rain with potential thunderstorms, as temperatures rise to around 67°F. Expect winds as high as 30 mph, increasing the risk of power outages and hazardous driving conditions.

Tuesday will continue with showers and isolated thunderstorms, as temperatures peak in the upper 60s. By Tuesday night, showers should taper off, with cooling temperatures bringing a low around 47°F.

Looking further ahead, Wednesday promises a break from the storms with mostly sunny skies and highs near 58°F. Temperatures will dip to 38°F Wednesday night, providing a cooler, drier end to the week. By Thursday and Friday, clear and sunny conditions are expected with highs ranging from 59°F to 60°F.
